Much progress had been made in the field of public interest litigation in China in 2008.While traditional public interest litigation cases challenging the malpractice of government organs and enterprises were still abundant，new types of public interest litigation cases were emerging. Three important laws，the Employment Promotion Law，the Regulations on the Disclosure of Government Information and the Anti-monopoly Law，took effect in 2008，which had greatly facilitated the public interest litigation in these areas. Chinese citizens actively took the initiative to promote the implementation of these laws through public interest litigation while the pro bono lawyers and public interest legal aid organizations still played a leading role in public interest litigation in 2008.
