With the rapid development of informatization，personal information protection is increasingly becoming an issue of public concern. In order to assist China’s legislation on personal information protection，the Law Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences built a project team to investigate and research on status auo and public awareness on personal information protection in China. This report analyzes the current situation of abuse of personal information and of laws and regulations on the protection of personal information in China. It also analyzes，through questionnaire investigation，public awareness of personal information protection and，explores through investigation on China’s credit cards business，the protection of personal information in China’s financial industry. On the basis of the above research work，this report puts forward some suggestions on the future of legislation on the protection of personal information in China.
