While presenting Antigua and Barbuda，Jamaica，Trinidad and Tobago as representative individual cases of the Caribbean the author also makes an overall review on the sub-region’s political，economic，social and diplomatic development in 2009. According to the author the Caribbean as a whole enjoyed political stability and policy continuity during the year. Recession signs appeared in the sub-region’s economy as current account and capital and financial account reported deficits simultaneously，tourism income thinned out，public budget suffered more pressures than before and unemployment rate rose up. Priority should be given to tackle social problems，such as immigration and crime. Development of relations with China and other Caribbean countries highlighted the country’s diplomatic scene.
