To build China into a maritime power is decided as one of the national development strategies by the eighteenth National Congress of the Communist Party of China （NCCPC）. With regard to national security，maritime，space and cyberspace security are highlighted by the eighteenth NCCPC. In fact，maritime security is not only one of the most important aspects of maritime power strategy but also serves as strong guarantee for China’s strategic choice to build into a maritime power. China currently faces multiple and complicated maritime security threats and challenges，and the maritime security situation is still far from being tranquil. To build a new model of maritime security relations between China and United States，to continue to make the neighborhood diplomacy a priority and to develop a strong national maritime security institution and mechanism are pragmatic ways to safeguard China’s maritime security nowadays.
