Approved by the State Council of the People's Republic of China in 2008,the Outline of the Plan for the Reform and Development of the Pearl River Delta(called "The Plan" below)has defined Qianhai in Shenzhen,Hengqin in Zhuhai,Nansha in Guangzhou,and Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City these four functional zones to be the important carrier for the co-operation platform between Guangdong,Hong Kong and Macau,also the rapid development of high-tech industry,and it is the first time raising the plan to the national strategic level for the development of the country.Located at the north of the Science City,Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City(called "the Knowledge City" below)and Qianhai,Hengqin,Nansha new i and all play as the important development platform for Guangdong Province's transformation and upgrade.The similarities in strategic development as well as industrial improvement for these four functional zones determine there will be competition and co-operation relationship in the economic process of development and innovation.For the Knowledge City,by standing at current foundation,how to achieve "improvement and development within competition,win-win situation within cooperation" should be our concern to think carefully and face actively.The article compares and analyzes in details in term of the background,goal,foundation,functions,progress,etc, for these four functional zones.The writer would like to bring this up as the references for the Knowledge City,which I think it would be beneficial. <<
