In 2013，the European political situation presented the following characteristics. Firstly，the far right-wing parties gained visible strength in many member states，a great challenge to the mainstream parties. Secondly，the campaign for 2014 European Election has already been launched.There will be a fierce competition between the European People’s Party and Social Democratic Party，and either of them could have a chance to become the biggest party group in the next European Parliament. The European transnational parties are preparing their candidate nomination for the next European Commission President，but whether there will be a link between the result of the European Election and the next Commission President is still quite uncertain. Thirdly，the agreement for Multiannual Financial Framework 2014-2020 was finally reached after tough negotiations between the EU institutions.
