China-New Zealand relations have entered a new stage characterized by the development of strong political trust，deepening military exchanges，ongoing rapid growth in trade relations and a broadening of bilateral economic activities as investment and economic cooperation partnerships begin to play an important role supporting the trade relationship. Based on analysis of recent government interactions，the challenges present in the trade relationship in 2013 and 2014 and the successful cooperation agreements signed early 2014，this paper argues China-New Zealand relations have entered a new and more mature stage of the relationship. Moreover，the depth of China’s relations with New Zealand and the many successful aspects of the relationship present a possible model of Chinese bilateral relations with western countries.
