Based on the definition ofmegacity，this report conveys a brief analysis on the characteristics of the developing Chinese megacities，looking at the expanding of its numbers，the growth of urban population，the rising of total economic output，its enormous contribution to employment and relatively high-level of construction. The report further addressing the problems facing Chinese megacity development，such as dual structure in cities，poor air quality，serious traddic congestion，fast rising real estate price and the vulnerability of mega cities，etc. it concludes that China has entered an era of heavy urban diseases，especially in mega cities，and it is high time to act to strengthen city governance .To strengthen megacity governance，we need strategic vision，global awareness，comprehensive measures and targeted means，and adhere to the policies which entails “scientific assessment，market-oriented，administrative regulation，comprehensive supporting，multi-subject governance，multi-means governance”. In order to promote megacity governace，we have proposed 9 approaches.
