Based on the national telephone survey including 1080 participants from 36 cities in China conducted by the Social Survey Center of Shanghai Jiaotong University，this paper analyzed people’s use and evaluation of government web-publishing platforms. The results show that people’s occupation and their perception of social security and fairness will significantly affect their use of government web-publishing platforms. Besides，the public evaluation of government web-publishing platforms is affected by household types，level of income，perception of current social fairness and harmony，evaluation of traditional media，and evaluation of the network order.
