As “the aircraft carrier” in the field of network news in China，national news sites are keeping development. At the same time，they should perform more extensively social responsibility. According to the new media social responsibility index system which is built in our project，the evaluation analysis shows that national news sites are performing their social responsibility at a lower level，and their functions are always missing at a different extent，such as information quality difference is obvious，the education content is not comprehensive，cultural inheritance consciousness is slightly weak，entertainment function is not sound，interactive activity is lack and its form is single，and so on. Therefore，improving strategies to enhance national news websites’ social responsibility are proposed，which contain that they need to strengthen news originality and comprehensiveness in the aspect of information production；establish value standard and guide public opinion correctly in the aspect of education the public；improve site culture connotation and train professional talents in the aspect of cultural heritage；increase the development and application of entertainment products in the aspect of providing entertainment；play platform’s full role to realize virtuous interaction of the public in the aspect of coordinating relationship.
