This study introduces the theory of Social Licence to Operate（SLO），and analyses the “siting dilemma” of chemical industry in China. According to SLO，a society can give or withdraw its support from a company. A company has to get trust from the local community and other stakeholders，has to be accepted by the society. This is a survey research about the social acceptance for chemical projects，1096 China residents took part in the survey. The main factors impacting the residents’ acceptance of domestic chemical project or nearby are analysed.
