Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Canada in 1970，the political leaders of both countries had taken joint efforts to push for the healthy and steadfast development of Sino-Canada’s relationship. But since Stephen Harper took power as the new Prime Minister of Canada and adopted the “New Diplomacy” policies，the Canadian government placed the Value-Oriented Diplomacy as the top priority，which severely hampered the Sino-Canada relationship. The thesis retrospects the history of Sino-Canada’s relations development，discusses Canada’s foreign policies with China and sheds light on the reasons why Harper government made changes and adjustments to its policies with China. To wind up，on the basis of the above analysis，this thesis discusses the possible future trends in the Sino-Canadian relationship.
