Biomass，an important renewable energy，is the solitary energy that can take the place of fossil fuels，which can be converted into gaseous fuel，liquid fuel，solid fuel and electric energy. There are many advantages on ensuring energy security，adjusting energy structure and so on by using biomass，but it could lead to negative impact on ecological，agricultural and social development if it is developed inappropriately. Therefore，it is necessary to standardize the sustainability of biomass on development，utilization and management，and establish relevant standards and certification system to ensure rapid and healthy development of the industry. This paper mainly introduced the status of biomass sustainability criteria and certification measures at home and abroad. And the similarities and differences among different standards were analyzed. Finally，some policy recommendations were proposed on sustainable development，standards and certification of biomass energy.
