It has been expressly prescribed in the Decision of the Party’s Fourth Plenary Session of the 18^th CPC Central Committee that risk assessment has been taken as one of the legal procedures for major administrative decision-making. With the deepening of overall reform，Sichuan Province is challenged by surge of risks and conflicts that affect the economic development and social stability，including but not limited to economic imbalance，social disorder and people’s mental imbalance. Starting from source control，the establishment and improvement of mechanism of social stability risk assessment for major decision-making is a new clue for preventing and solving the risks and conflicts impacting social stability. To popularize the application of such mechanism has practical urgency. Sichuan is making great efforts to achieve the coverage of social stability risk assessment throughout the whole province. In such context，this Article summarizes Sichuan experiences from the aspects of basic information and results achieved，sorts out the existing problems and makes targeted policy suggestions.
