It is of great importance to protect the ecological environment in Beijing，while the continuous shrinkage of wetland area cause concerns. In order to reverse the trend，the research group surveyed the current situation of wetlands in Beijing and tried to locate management deficiencies through field visited to main wetlands surrounding the urban area of the capital city and interviewed with relevant administrative authorities. Upon such solid foundation，the research group analyzed the factors behind the shrinkage and drew on lessons and experiences both at home and abroad，which led to a series of feasible suggestions regarding improvement of management，technological support and development guidelines so as to facilitate the gradual restoration，expansion and increase of proportion of wetland area in Beijing.
