The financial crisis has interrupted the continuous growth of African countries which started around the beginning of the new century. Africa's GDP growth dropped from 6 per cent in 2007 to 5.1 percent in 2008. In the year of 2009,the spread of global financial crisis worsened the international environment of African economic growth. The impacts of the global financial crisis for Africa include:a reduction in export and investment, worse fiscal conditions, higher unemployment, and more grievous poverty. Africa'GDP growth is expected to slash to 2-3 percent, less than half of the average growth rate achieved in the past five years. Thus,African economy has entered a low-speed growth period. With the gradual recovery of the world economy in 2010,this might be expected to improve GDP growth rate to 4.5 percent.
