This paper is the one and only attempt made in China to reorganize and analyze the domestic and overseas culture evaluation index systems comprehensively. Based on the comprehensive summary and deep analysis of some index related to public culture service performance measurement, the author points out that by far there is no integrated systematic and mature performance evaluation index system pertinent to public culture service at home and abroad. In order to assess the performance of local government's construction devotion in public culture service, a public culture service performance evaluation index system, which is based on China's national conditions, should be researched and developed. This paper prospectively points out that this evaluation index system must be innovative and explorative, needs continual interaction between theory and practice and constant improvement until it reaches perfection. <<
