In 2011, government put more emphasis on the importance of social construction, which requires us to ensure and improve people's livelihood. During this period, people are better off in terms of their income level, and enjoy markedly improved quality of life. Meanwhile, life pressure is relieved to some extent, and the coverage of social security system is further expanded. However, there are some social problems which pose serious threat to our society's stability, such as the rising prices on necessities, the insufficiency of hospitals and medical services, the unreasonably high medical expenditure, and the widening gap in income distribution. Furthermore, people show great concern about the ineffectiveness of government's anti-corruption campaign. China's fast urbanization process will have far-reaching impact on China's social development in the future. However, there are some factors that may obstruct China's urbanization. For instance, the Hukou regulation and urban residents' discrimination against peasant workers make it difficult for the rural labor to integrate into the urban society. Moreover, in order to build up a civil society, it is crucial to broaden the channel for people's social participation, and cultivate citizens' spirit of service and sense of social responsibility. And it is necessary to establish a society of trust which is essential to resolve social conflicts.
