Sobotka,Chairman of ĈSSD,was designated as Prime Minister of Czech Republic on 17 January 2014. The political situation turned to be stable in the year. However, competition and contest still existed both within the ruling coalition and between the ruling parties and the oppositions. In addition, disagreement between the President and PM on the domestic and foreign policies brought about potential risks to the future stability of the government. Czech’s economy began to restore recovery and the GDP stopped falling. Facing the negative influences resulted from the EU’s sanctions against Russia, the Czech government tried to stimulate economic growth by cutting down interest rate and evaluating national currency. Headed by the Europhile PM and President, the Czech government turned to take an active attitude towards the EU. However,it was prudent on the economic sanctions taken by the EU against Russia.Cooperation with China became one of the priorities of the Czech government.
