China’s diplomacy has been transforming and becoming more aggressive since the 18th CPC National Congress，which set forth stricter requirements for China’s think-tank development. It is beneficial to track the progress and major views in the latest research of the top international top think tanks in order to construct better new types of think tanks with Chinese characte risticsin China and to timely grasp trends in international strategic circles. This article reviews some representative research and reports presented during the past year by the ten most influential think tanks in the major Western countries（i.e.，the United States，Britain，France，Germany，and Japan），focusing on issues related to international politics，security problems，and global governance. This review shows that the current research of the top international think tanks is closely linked to strategic topics，and their policy recommendations are both critical and constructive based ontheir diverse analytical perspectives.
