Since 2000，China is under the stage of rapidly constructing new residential care beds for the elderly，which is the best time for implanting energy saving equipment and environmental protection strategies. This article reviews the existing status and problems in terms of resource usage and related sustainable issues in China’s specialised facilities for the elderly. Based on that，useful western practical experiences and research knowledge are also reviewed accordingly. On this basis，the article pointed out the direction for China’s housing for the elderly of avoiding the blind pursuit of “low carbon” housing for the elderly，but starting with the basics，such as water and electricity saving；this is supported by given policies，regulation and practice suggestions，as well as implementation advices. <<
