Since the advent of genetically modified （GM） food，its security is controversial. Due to the lack of reliable GM food safety regulatory system，the public acceptance is difficult to improve. Especially the illegal GM food continually flows into the market cased by economic benefit. This seriously undermined the legitimate rights and interests of consumers. Studying on European Union GM organism safety regulatory system，the paper analyzes the GM food regulatory system，and then puts forward appropriate recommendations，mainly aiming at the laws & regulations，detection，examination & approval system，identification system，information disclosure system of GM foods.
