Religion is mainly concerned with human beings spiritual field. Although the objective of religious organizations is to distribute religious doctrines，they show their considerations towards the worldly society as well. The advantages of religious groups and organizations servicing the society lie in deep-rooted belief foundation，long history of tradition，high moral inspirational power，strong financial position as well as well-founded public basis. This article analyzes the achievements that Shanghai religious community has made since China adopted the reform and opening-up policy，together with current issues and underlying causes，pointing out that the services provided by the religious groups are a part of the charities of the whole society. Thus，the services from the religious organizations should be supported by the society and guided and overseen by the government so as to achieve a satisfactory interaction with the society. At present，the attitude of the government，to some extent，forms the key to the success of religious community’s services to the society. It is hoped that all levels of government can show concern and support in deciding their social policies.
