The family is the most influential factor in minors' rational use of the internet. This study analyses the potential influence of families on minors' internet use in terms of five aspects: family life of minors; affective interactions between minors and their parents, parents' attitudes toward minors' internet use, parents' guidance of minors' internet use, and different perceptions between parents and minors. The study finds that there exist perceptional differences between parents and minors in the "attitudes", "concerns", "regulations" and "guidance" of the minors' use of the internet. The study suggests that a cooperation mechanism be established between the internal being (individuality), external virtual being (the Internet) and external real being (families, schools and internet bars), so as to ensure a healthy use of the internet by minors.
