This paper selects six representative popular science websites，using content analysis method to evaluate the status of social responsibility performance，the study found that China’s popular science website information production responsibility perform the best，the coordination relationship perform better，social supervision andcultural education responsibility fulfillment situation needs to be improved. This study puts forward the improvement measures as follows：guaranteeing the timeliness and information control，and ensuring the depth of the content；expanding the function of social supervision，and guiding the correct network of public opinion；paying attention to the cultural heritage，and digging popular science entertainment；using advanced technology to optimize the user experience.
