In 2016，Russia continued to maintain and actively improved the cooperation with Central Asian countries in the field of politics，security，economy and culture. In 2016，the world economy was slowly recovering，and commodity prices stayed low. Mutual sanctions and anti-sanctions were taken between Russia and Western Countries. Economy grew slowly. Labor remittance of some Central Asian countries has declined dramatically. Integration process of the Eurasian Economic Union continued with contradictions and problems. In the field of security，religious extremism and international terrorism threatened the stability and security of Central Asian countries. The cooperation between Russia and Central Asian countries in various fields and the legacy of the Soviet Union were still the important methods and resources of Russia to maintain influence.
