Free trade agreements（FTAs）have prevailed in the world since the 1990s. The Economic interdependence，which has impact on the security of related countries and regions and is the reflection of economic security，has been strengthened between members of FTAs. In the twenty-first century，Japan has worked to promote its FTA strategy focusing on Southeast Asia. Influenced by factors both at home and abroad，Japan’s FTA strategy in Southeast Asia reflects its considerations relating to economic security，including the security of resources，energy，food，manufacturing and maritime transportation.
