As one of the most important basic economic activities in Guangzhou city, the logistics industry will have good opportunity of development in the next 10 years. Firstly, applying the factor analysis, this paper examines the comprehensive strength of the logistics industry of the top ten cities in the country; result shows that the comprehensive strength of Guangzhou logistics industry is in the forefront, but behind Shanghai,Beijing,Chongqing and Tianjin city. Secondly, on the basis of summarizing the characters of the logistics industry in Guangzhou, the quantitative and qualitative analysis are made to study the influence of the industry on the city development. Results show that the logistics industry has contributed a lot to the city economic development, especially since the mid 1990s, mainly in some aspects such as creating added value, absorbing employment population, supporting other industries, and so on. Finally, some suggestions about the logistics industry are put forward. <<
