The development of a healthy retail market is the key for forming a international trading center in China and is also a necessary requirement for maintaining stable economic expansion and transforming economic growth model. During the 11th Five-year Plan Period, Guangzhou seized the timing of Asian Game and achieved a rapid move in consumer market by improving consuming environment, service quality and broadening the scope of service sector. Based on available data during the 11th FYP, this paper reviews the evolvement and problem of Guangzhou consumer market and thereby some recommendations are made.
